Kingsleys Crab and Steak House have recently made me very happy in the way that they have handled an issue I had with them, and it’s always nice to have a happy story to tell regarding customer service.

The not so nice:
I came in this morning to two marketing emails from Kingsleys (which I cannot read as the work firewall strips everything from them, so I still have no idea what the contents were). So I clicked the unsubscribe button to remove my email address from the list. About 30 minutes later I got another idential message.

Mood: Grumpy

The nice – I emailed the person on their website who looks after marketing and complained with the following text:

“Oi,I am not amused. I never agreed to be signed up to a newsletter, I unsubscribed from the newsletter and you keep sending them to me.

If it were not for your good steaks i’d never eat there again, I’ll not be giving you a legit phone number or email again – you’ll probably sell it to a call centre off shore and have them spam me about life insurance or something!

Grrr!

Grrrr!

yes – it’s Monday and I’m grrrrrrrrrrumpy.”

I was personally responded too and had my name removed from the mailing list within 15 minutes. I had one more question regarding future potential orders and it was confirmed again within 15 minutes that if I entered my email address on the website for an online booking if I would be re-subscribed – it was confirmed that I would not be. Great news, I’ll be visiting Kingsley’s again and will probably book online! While I think they should have never emailed me in the first place at least their customer service was happy to help!

I’m rather happy that I don’t feel the need to boycott them any more too, as they’re a great place to eat!

Post the exploration event today Nat, Clare, Dave, Belinda and I had a bite to eat at Pangaea in Manuka this evening. (We picked Belinda up on the way)
The specials were all seafood and the regular menu had a somewhat Italian inspiration, with a style all of its own (decidedly not Italian). The service was very friendly, prompt and accomodating. All the food ordered looked and smelled delicious. I had a caesar salad which was just delicious, to top off the good food the pricing of the meals at this place was very reasonable althogh the excellent service was somewhat let down by the speed at which the bill arrived.

This place is highly recommended and I will most certainly be attending again.

A food review!
Its been a while since the last one, but here is a quickie. Long hours, dodgy breakfasts mean poor decisions when it comes to purchasing food. Hungry Jacks was this decision for lunch today (along with two other co-workers) as I said – Healthy Eating – Its a bad habit, I’ve given it the kick – actually I have not had HJ’s for a while and have no intention of making it a regular occourence.

Issue One: Large value meal means a large coke and large chips/fries, not a large coke and little chips/fries – negative points there.

Issue Two: Short Changed mate, by one dollar – negative marks

Issue Three: Did not let expired free upgrade slide with a warning – its not like I noticed the year had switched. Altough this could be corporate policy and not droid at window fault – so neutral.

Issue Four: Box rather than person to make orders – negative 1/2 mark.

The food itself was fresh and relatively tasty (for it being HJ’s) and what you would expect anywhere really and it certainly got rid of the hunger pains.

Lunch conversation was good and we have decided that the McDonald’s double quarterpounder with cheeze crossed with a HJ’s burger would be great – the HJ’s pattie, maccas sauce, onion and cheese with eithers bread.

Overall 2.5/5 – Better than Macca’s taste wise – macca’s wins hands down customer service.

The food while tasty was certainly on the smaller size when it comes to portions. I am left with a feeling of wanting more. The sausages far from the fat juicy things I were expecting were small an aenemic, but they did taste very good and as such were not overly bad.

I will probably revist The British pub (which is one street down from Melboure street and slightly west of the road “The Lion” also corners) and see if any of there other meals stack up.

Lunch: Expensive for size but tasty.

Cha-Chi’s found at 203 Glen Osmond Road.

Meal:
1x All you can eat @ 14 (Nacho’s, Burritos (Chicken and Shredded Beef) and Taco’s (Chicken and Shredded Beef))
1x Corona @ 7.5
3x Coke @ 3ea – 9 total
1x Holbah @ 7.5
1x Fried Apple Burrito @ 7.5

Serves a variety of Mexican foods and has a mexican theme. Wait staff are friendly and helpful if a little hard to find when you want or need them.

Menu prices for non special items look very expensive (my favourite was $32.50 (Fajhitas)).

The mains were a little uninspiring – the Nacho’s were nothing like the hot delight that they are in pubs, the taco’s and burritos were not all that nice relative to home made ones but the combination of the three is very filling.

The deserts were VERY nice and presented excellently, but the oil used to fry the burrito and the chocolate nachos (jake had this) left an unusual and not very nice aftertaste to the meal.

Overall I feel that the contribution of fiddy to the pot would have gone a lot further for a lot better at other resturants, I’d rate this a pass unless you are a cheap uni bum.
