Yarra Burn – Pinot Noir (2001)

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

This drop, while in and of itself is not all that horrible, it has confirmed to me that I do not like wines made from Pinot. They seem too superficial with the fruitiness being nice and strong, but it is not offset well with its acid content. To me its just bam, in your face […]

Cleartype my backside.

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

What is with Microsoft’s current beta software – it seems to enable it for everything. Internet Explorer 7  beta – UnclearType enabled everywhere. Office 2007 beta – UnclearType enabled everywhere. I have a nice sharp LCD, this “Cleartype” or as I refer to it UnclearType is a step backwards, and renders it unusable for me […]

Brokenwood – Shiraz (2002)

Friday, May 19th, 2006

McLaren Vale, Padthaway and Beechworth the grapes from this passable Shiraz hail from. Together in the bottle and oak a decently spicy with fruity hints seem to remain. While its not something to rave over, it is enjoyable and goes well with good food. M

Majella (Coonawarra) – Cabernet (2001)

Friday, May 19th, 2006

This is one nice Cabernet, its earthy, deep even somewhat mushroomy with hints of bite. It would go well with almost any mediterranean food, or even standard european continental food. At 30-40 a bottle its not cheap, but well worth it. M nwld

Taking a screenshot within Media Player

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Windows Media Player (WMP 9 and 10) can infact take screenshots. The standard windows “Print Screen” functionality which leaves you with a blank box when used is unable to take screenshots, because to speed up and make video playback smooth things like Media Player and most DVD software use something called “video overlay” which effectivly […]

Pangaea – Manuka, ACT

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

Post the exploration event today Nat, Clare, Dave, Belinda and I had a bite to eat at Pangaea in Manuka this evening. (We picked Belinda up on the way) The specials were all seafood and the regular menu had  a somewhat Italian inspiration, with a style all of its own (decidedly not Italian). The service […]
