Chandon – Cuvee Riche (non Vintage)
This sparkling white made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, has a very interesting colour somewhere between yellow and orange, and is the only form of Pinot thus far that I have enjoyed. Unlike some sparkling whites this does not have a sour taste, yet it is not overly sweet. It was opened to celebrate/commiserate…

Australian Army Called to Fight the Toxic Cane Toad
They carry a venom so powerful it can kill crocodiles, snakes and other predators in minutes. All attempts to fight the spread of the cane toad have so far failed. No-one is quite sure of the most effective way to stop them. — Thinking of Nat who has just moved up to Queensland! Enjoy. M…

The little iTunes that couldn’t …
How can a digital catalouge expire? I placed an album in my shopping cart, waiting for a time when I could be bothered to make a purchase (Roxette – Don’t bore us get to the chorus, if you must know – there is no accounting for taste, especially not mine :P), anyways back to the…

Outlook 2003 – MAPI error after uninstalling Office 2007 beta
If you get an error regarding your MAPI dll when starting up Outlook 2003 after you uninstall Office2007, I reccomend that you delete “MSMAPI32.DLL” from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\ directory (note: “Program Files” may vary between x64 and 32 bit versions of windows), then insert your Office 2003 CD, start the installer, and select the…

Windows Vista Ultimate, Mac OS X 10.4.x, Ubuntu Dapper Drake (6.06)
It seems every man and his dog is running around the internet posting reviews of Windows Vista Ultimate, and a goodly proportion of these have made comparisons to either Linux or MacOS, now its my turn ;). Vista – I think I’ll start here as it is the most logical place to begin and is…

Wolf Blass – Grey Label – Cabernet Sauvignon (Langhorne Creek) – 2004
Woah! This is one awesome cab sav. Very young being a 2004 vintage, I would HIGHLY reccommend grabbing a 1/2 case or so and cellaring for several years (6-8 says the label). The potential of this wine is excellent. It may be a screwcap, but one should remember that this will render the wine less…

Penfolds – Bin 407 – Cabernet Sauvignon (1998, 1999)
Welcome to oak city, and what a lovely place it is. Rich deep tannins render these vintages very deep, dark red in colour. The ’98 is perhaps begining to get a little old (or perhaps not cellared correctly) but both are quite drinkable now. Like the St Henri’s an unrushed and patient period of time…

O’Leary Walker – Clare Valley/McLaren Vale (Shiraz) 2004
Normally I am not a fan of the younger wines, prefering some age in them, but for some reason this drop resonates well with me. Plenty of fruit, hints of wood, but a depth that is surprising not at all watery. A definate keeper more reqired :D. nwld

Penfolds – St Henri Shiraz (1999)
St Henri is my benchmark for wines, many thanks to Andrew who first gave me a bottle of the 1997 vintage. The 1999 while not as good as the ’97 is a damn fine wine, it is essential that this drop be given sufficient time to open up, else it does not taste as good,…
