Two cancers – one found in dogs that dates as far back as 2500 years ago, and a newer (50 years) found in the Tasmanian Devil show that there may be some forms of cancer that are transmissible between hosts. The Tassie devil cancer is not a great parasite as it seems to kill its hosts quickly, but as the animals are very agressive it is spreading rapidly in the populations.
