  • This method de champagne is actually rather tasty, exploding on the pallate with an immense infusion of bubble trailing off to a bitey almost astringent aftertaste. The flavours of pinot and chardonnay blending nicely together. It is a rather refreshing summer drink. MUST BE SERVED COLD! It is neither sweet, fruity or bitter, nor is it too dry. Don’t just ignore this bubbly, have a go and get into it.

  • During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I?ll be growin a moustache. That?s right I?m bringing the Mo back because I?m passionate about changing the state of men?s health, and I thought it was worth a laugh (what could be better – good causes + laughs :D).

Male health is a major issue, did you know:

    1. Men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of males is 6 years less than females.
    2. Every year in Australia 2,700 men die of prostate cancer ? more than the number of women who die from breast cancer.
    3. Depression affects 1 in 6 men? Most don?t seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide. Rates of suicide are more than double the national road toll.

Help us change the face of men?s health by sponsoring my mo.

Please go to http://www.movember.com.au/au/sponsor, enter my Rego number which is 18640 and your credit card details. All donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.

I am doing this as part of a team – you might also like to sponsor these mo’s!

    The “MoSOS” team consists of:

    18124 Jon Walker (Capt)
    18640 Malcolm McGarth
    21161 Fred Johnson
    21447 Nathan Reilly
    25259 Darren Hitchman
    25319 Stuart Reay

The money raised by Movember will be used to change the face of men’s health by creating awareness and funding research into prostate cancer and male depression.

Movember culminates at the end of the month at the Gala Part? where I?ll be parading my Mo on the cat walk for a chance to be crowned the Man of Movember. If you want to be part of this great night you?ll have to purchase a Gala Parte ticket for $33.00 (inc GST).

I’ll also be posting piccies of the “growth” should anything develop, even if I have to resort to Texta on the 30th of November!

  • Optimized Firefox 2.0 for G4, G5, and Intel Macs: BeatnikPad Journal

We all love Firefox for the mac, but the mac is such a massive platform and compiling it for the lowest common denominator misses some of of the performance benefits for your specific machine. If you care about eaking out the few little CPU cycles that the browser might otherwise eat, grab one of the unofficial firefox builds, built for your platform (G4, G5 or Intel).

While a little “ricey” for some people, Im somewhat happier with this build than the default!

  • A wine with a web page :D.

I was in the mood for a Shiraz tonight, after rummaging in the wine cupboard and discarding several? Cab Sav’s I came across this botttle. Very simple bottle and for a few moments I thought I had grabbed a Wolf Blass Grey Label, I was wrong 😀 I had instead grabbed this, I may be a novitiate when it comes to wines, but this one strikes me as a good ol’ aussie Shiraz. It has a massive nose and a complex palate that makes drinking it really enjoyable. Was pretty much exactly what I was craving flavour wise. It does need a little time to open up, but has a nice mellow beginning, a pointy middle and a fruity finish. Lovely drop.
