ShipIt lets you request Ubuntu 6.06 LTS (Dapper Drake) CDs that will be posted to you free of charge.
– I almost managed to get this one on digg before anyone else, so close but so far. None the less Ubuntu CD’s for everyone :D.

Windows Media Player (WMP 9 and 10) can infact take screenshots. The standard windows “Print Screen” functionality which leaves you with a blank box when used is unable to take screenshots, because to speed up and make video playback smooth things like Media Player and most DVD software use something called “video overlay” which effectivly dumps the video to a special place on the graphics card that sends it stright to your display (bypassing the normal windows “drawing” process).
To get around this, the WMP developers have included a special key combo that will save what you are seeing (unscaled, in original size) to disk – the Key combo is: Control I (CTRL-I).

Post the exploration event today Nat, Clare, Dave, Belinda and I had a bite to eat at Pangaea in Manuka this evening. (We picked Belinda up on the way)
The specials were all seafood and the regular menu had? a somewhat Italian inspiration, with a style all of its own (decidedly not Italian). The service was very friendly, prompt and accomodating. All the food ordered looked and smelled delicious. I had? a caesar salad which was just delicious, to top off the good food the pricing of the meals at this place was very reasonable althogh the excellent service was somewhat let down by the speed at which the bill arrived.
This place is highly recommended and I will most certainly be attending again.
Today, Nat, Clare, Dave and I went on a bit of a hunt for some decent screensavers or Desktop Backgrounds in the area of Pierces Creek (behind Cotter, before Tidbinbilla in the ACT).
The reason behind this is that on the return journey from yesterdays Sunday School outing there were a great many views that would have made wonderful pictures, but no one had? a digital camera and it was decided that we would head off to find some decent places to take some pictures.
The day for this was on the surface not as good as yesterday, as it was overcast and somewhat hazey. However I remembered a spot that was quite nice at providing decent panoramas. It was also a chance to face a new demon, for Laurel Camp Road, Pierces Creek is where we headed (this was where I rolled my Audi S3 in January this year, but the views out there are spectacular). So we headed off and spent about an hour and a half out there. (Dave’s wife was at home studying for her up coming exams and missed out).
We were fortunate to spot many interesting things, including an awesome sunset, that was just spectacular. We investigated a creek, saw a bat and got an appreciation for the devestation caused by the bushfires several years ago.
Photos are no longer available, due to a server failure.
It’s a big honking file, but we have video of the Spore Wired Event from last night as well as interviews with both Robin WIlliams and Will Wright. Enjoy!

I must watch this. Anything with Spore is interesting, and if Robin Williams is involved, I hope its funny!
While food and drink section might be a little too ambitious for this topic, I had my first Krispy Kreme doughnut today. And they are wrong, evil, bad wrong. They need to be placed on controlled substances lists globally. For mass produced donught generica these are damn nice. I am scared what might happen when the store opens up in Woden (Canberra, ACT) next month.
This wine while relativly young, has character, its fruity, yet has a subtle hint of earthy oaks, and a nice spicy finish. Nestling in the 12-17 price range, its a not a bad drop for when friends pop over. I like this one enough that I think it will become my “house red” – the default wine to bring out when unsure of the tastes of others.
A relatively nice Shiraz that is designed to be drunk about now (2006). Its not overly complex and relies on oakey flavours for the bulk of its tastiness. Its overall not a bad drop, an enjoyable drink to be shared with friends.
Remember please that alcohol should only be consumed in moderation, and if you are unsure if you should drink or not, dont!
This wine hailing from the Mclaren Vale in South Australia is an insult to the region and they should get upset with their label designer. They mis-spelled the name – swap the M for an N and you have it right, oonoo this is one horrible vinegar tasting wine. AVOID IT! ’nuff said
