Home Brew May 2014 – Pilsner

Just put down a Pilsner to begin ferment in the lovely mid autumn Canberra weather.

Using the following:

Yeast S-189 Pilsner/German Lager

Morgans Golden Saaz Pilsner kit

CBW Pilsen Light pure malt extract

 

The specific gravity was 1.043 and is now sitting in the shed to ferment for the next 2 – 3 weeks. I’ll update this post as required and things change.

  1. Racked this to a second fermenter today for it to do it’s lagering. FG was 1.012, used dry ice to purge any air and reduce the risk/impact of oxidation.

  2. Bottled today (5 July 2014) – 56 Days after pitching. Final gravity 1.010 for a Pilsner of 4.33% ABV.
    27 x 750mL + 3x 330mL bottles.
