Wirra Wirra – Churchblock 2005 (McLaren Vale)
From Wirra’s latest release – a Cabernet Sauvignon – Shiraz – Merlot blend. Was not in the mood for this one when I opened it so I left it until the next night to give it a second chance, the combination of extra time, changes to my palate made this rather enjoyable. It is a…

Hugh Hamilton “The Ratbag” Merlot 2004
I am usually not a fan of Merlot as it is too soft for my liking, way to subtle. I like a wine that smacks you across the back of your tonsils and shakes you all about. Now while this is not as in your face as the typical Aussie big Red like the Barossa…

Brown Brothers – Orange Muskat and Flora
This is a decent dessert wine for people who have a sweet tooth or are just having a need for a sweet thing, this goes well with sticky date pudding!

Wynn’s Coonawarra Estate – Shiraz (2004)
Oh yeah, this is one sweet sweet Shiraz, while the Coonawarra (and Wynn’s) are better known for the Cabernet Suavignon this is a mighty fine Shiraz that should not be ignored or passed up. Get into it!

Hugh Hamilton – Unwooded Chardonnay (2006)
This is a brilliant wine from one of my favourite wineries in the McLaren Vale this Chardonnay goes well with pretty much anything, went down a treat in and with a Stroganoff.

Stockmans Post – Shiraz Cabernet Merlot (2004)
This one is definitely over aged at the moment, but of the two bottles I had (one went down the sink) one was very nice to drink – I had it with a curry.

Chapel Hill – Il Vescovo (Sangiovese Rose) (2006)
The second of the Chapel Hill wines in this update Sangiovese Rose is an absolute bargain at $14/bottle. Its not too sweet, not too dry and a perfect accompaniment to any barbecue (or even a chicken salad). Unfortunately I drank this quite some time ago when the weather was still warm down here in the…

Chapel Hill – The Devil (NV Port)
Starting the update of the wines consumed over the last 10 weeks or so – we have a port, now this one was not finished in a few nights, but rather over a few weeks. This is an extremely pleasant port, it’s only aged 12 years – so its no oldie in the age stakes,…

Annie’s Lane Coppertrail Shiraz – 2000
Spicy and fruity. Its beyond well tasty. Wants to get some air into it for its full yumminess to be released. VERY GOOD!

Keyneton Estate Euphonium – Cab Sav, Shiraz, Merlot, Cab Franc – (2004)
This is truly a blended wine being made from 40% shiraz, 25% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot, and 10% cabernet franc grown in the Barossa (Eden Valley and Barossa Valley). The interesting thing about this wine is that it is so well balanced and caters to differing tastes (in red’s of course). We drank this prior…
