Majella – Coonawarra Shiraz – 2001
This is a decent shiraz hailing from the Coonawarra region of South Australia. Has all the right amounts of fruitiness, spicyness and astringincy. Grab a bottle, goes down well! M

Segond de Dufort 2002 Margaux – Gonzague Lurton
This is a French wine. Other than its name I know very little. While most certainly it was pleasent, I would not consider this drop to be spectacular. No idea which variety it is, but at a guess I’d be leaning toward either a Pinot or Merlot, perhaps even a blend of the two. M

Saltram – Mamre Brook – Cabernet Sauvignon (2004)
This is a decent Cabernet Sauvignon hailing from the Barossa Valley in South Australia. Currently it is a bit young, but should age orrite in the bottle. It has spicy berry fruits with a little not quite ripe satsuma plum the level of astringincy is pleasant on the palate during the closing moments of? tasting.…

Ingoldby – Cabernet Sauvignon (2004)
Ingoldby make a very nice Cab Sav. It is a youngin’ but well worth drinking and certainly not to be ignored. I should not have waited a week to blog about it as I have now forgotten most of its characteristics. ndldaritm

Penfolds – Bin 389 – Cabernet Shiraz (1997)
This rather nice Cab Shiraz was decanted and left to breath for about 4 hours prior to drinking. This was a nicely balanced wine, with the right amount of spice, earthyness and fruit all combined into a fine wine. M nwldalahai

“Richard Hamilton – ‘Centurian’ Shiraz – 2001”
This is a well nice drop of Shiraz, it has sufficient fruit and spice that make it rather appealing. Not very much in the way of a sulphery after taste. It needed quite a bit of time to open up (approx 3 hours) and keeps on getting better the more time it is given. Made…

Stockman’s Post – Semillon Chardonnay (2004)
This is a very nice white. It is not sweet, but still fruity, has a small amount of bite too it and honestly – exquisitely balanced. This would go very well with spicy asian foods – something along the lines of a satay, or even red or green Thai curry, possibly also salt and pepper…

Penfolds – St Henri Shiraz-Cabernet – 1995
While a little past its prime, this was an extremely nice drop, and illustrates why it is that I like this label so much!

Cahors – Chateau Quattre – 1996
Like the last french wine, I have no idea of the variety. This one is not what I was expecting – for starters the cork was none to happy with life, but did not seem to impact the wine negatively, but a bigger surprise than that was the level of fruityness, and boldness – must…

les Granges des Papes – Cotes Du Rhone – 2003
This French jobbie is a subtle but very nice drop of Red. I highly reccommend it!
