Margaret River “Watershed” Sauvignon Blanc – 2005
This is a rather nice white wine from Western Australia’s Margaret river.
It has a pleasent crispness to it, not sweet, not dry that is somewhat refreshing and goes very well with Tasmanian Salmon (which is what I had for dinner tonight).
I highly reccomend this bottle for lighter meals, as a predominantly red wine drinker, this is definatly a drop worth considering.

13.3-inch MacBooks on the way?
We’ve been operating under the assumption that Apple will call their new consumer line of laptops MacBook, as opposed to the pro line of MacBook Pro. Maybe we just spend too much time thinking about Apple’s naming schemes, and this probably doesn’t change anything.

These look seriously tempting and will be most temping if they can play WoW reasonably well.M

MS Virtual Server is now free (Wow! Direct link, no blog spam!)
Q: So does this mean Virtual PC is dead?
A: Nope. VPC is still under development.
Q: You guys are just doing this in response to VMware / Xen / etc… – right?
A: Not really. Virtualization is standard in the next wave of MS servers, so there’s no point charging for it.—
Something worth looking at for those who want to have access/use multiple hosts on a single CPU. I know it interests me!

Reasons to Love Open-Source DRM
Sun Microsystems is pushing an open-source copy protection scheme designed to let you listen to your music across a broad range of platforms. Critics say there’s no such thing as good DRM. Here’s why they’re wrong
—
For as long as companies persist in shoving DRM down our throats a DRM system like the one described here, proposed by Sun is most certainly my preferred method.

Apple is doing amazing things with 10.5 Leopard’s multitasking….
A critical component of not only Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard,” but also the Cocoa/Carbon for Windows package will be new code co-developed with Intel that helps break up tasks into multiple threads
—
This is most interesting, if Apple are able to achieve an snappy user interface they will have an excellent chance at snapping away users from Microsoft’s Vista not to mention the ideas behind the optimisations for many threads/cpu cores in high level library’s could be useful to many operating systems. I look forward to seeing some results from this research soon.

New Audi R8 Production Car Photos
Fourtitude has caught some great new photos of the new Audi R8 production car going through testing at Nurburging, late last week. Two different R8’s were actually spied one wearing a matte black finish with fashionable white polka dot’s and the other in a light silver blue much like the Le Mans concept car’s color.
—
Yummy! It looks like Audi are making one of their concept cars a reality. Finally looks like we might be in a for a treat with the R8. Although I doubt Australia will be lucky enough to ever see this puppy hit our shores. -
The Perfect Xen 3.0 Setup For Debian
This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to install Xen 3.0.1 on a Debian Sarge system.
Xen lets you create guest operating systems, so called “virtual machines” or domUs, under a host operating system (dom0).

Looks like an easier to configure and use virtual-server implementation, this type of thing is available from other projects also – vmware, vserver (kernel patches + cli tools), definatly worth a look and a diggity digg yo!
