  • Handy little site that contains uBook reader (micro book reader) a little utility that seems to have better text rendering capabilities than other ebook readers. Fits much more text on the screen at any one moment in time.

  • The fourth installment of the Harry Potter series is about to be shown around the world in cinemas. I was fortunate enough to be able to get a quick peek at it before the Australian release of December 1st.

This fourth movie see’s Harry at Hogwarts as a 14 year old student, about to face his first ball/social/prom during the period of time that the school is hosting the Tri-Wizard tournament. (Where students of Hogwarts, Durmstrung (Bulgarian all boys wizarding school) and Beaubaton (French all girls witching school).

I’m not going to go into massive detail as to what was contained within the movie so as not to spoil it for anybody, but there are some thoughts I’d like to share.

This fourth installment brings a new director to the table, and with it a much darker atmosphere, which I feel is certainly a good thing, but somewhere along the place the improvments (darker atmosphere, the kids growing up) something else fell out. The pace of this fourth film seemed too slow, with not enough progession or smooth segways into the next step of the story. It just seemed to lag in one section and then bounce with little explanation to the next scene, which also felt slow.

Of the four this was definatly the worst as far as pace goes, which is unfortunate as it bring many other improvements to the table, these improvments however are not sufficient to raise it above me calling this installment the worst of the lot.

If you are not a Harry Potter fan, I’d give this a pass. If you are a fan – read the book to about three quarters through and refresh your mind as to the sequence of events and the motivation behind the actions of the characters.

  • It *always* takes me a reasonable amount of time to find these again. I like to have the both the Camino G4 optimised/optimized build and one based off the official trunk (optimised also) on my machine at the same time. You can never have too many browsers ;). Anyways the “Firefox” can be found here http://www.furbism.com/firefoxmac/ . I will probably download the source at some point in the near future to have a play around myself, hey if you don’t know or trust the people who compiled it for you, compile it yourself 😛 .

** NB: Multiple versions of spelling optimised to help foreigners search for this link. As an Australian, I prefer the correct method with the s rather than a z.

Melbourne, Victoria, Australial. Should you see a motorvehicle (Red Ford TX3) numberplates – TVH-464 – report it to the police immeadiatly. Apparantly upset by someone who refused their advanced to participate in a drag (Volkswagen Golf R32 – an EXTREMELY capable car) they decided to take it out on the occupants and the motorvehicle.

This behaviour by these louts driving the Ford should not be tolerated. Lets hope that the Police can arrance a cell with bubba!

  • OLD LINK: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2005/11/17/1132016909640.html – IT workers dubbed ‘worst dressed’ – Breaking – Technology – smh.com.au

    I call bullshit.

To even suggest that IT industry has the worst dressed people is just silly.

Go to any building site. See any trucker and most couriers. These people dress (generally speaking) far worse than any slackly dressed help desker.

This is merely an attempt to try and get people who are reasonably cashed up to fork over their hard earned income to become obsessed with brand names and fasion crap.

Sure its not difficult to dress neatly and some IT people definatly need to think twice about what they shove on in the mornings, but to suggest the worst dressed as an industry is just a cheap and nasty attempt at headline grabbing. Unfortunatly one that seemed to work.

EDIT: While I certainly don’t advocate looking like this onsite – for a contractor who works from home and deals with no-one this might be ok, but shoes damnnit! (One of my mates who linked to me complained about lack of piccies, so here is one :P) (Note: 15 March 2014 – removing links to now defunct albums page)

EDIT2: Greetings to the folks from slashdot. Seem’s my mate Jim (see his blog link over there on the right—>) linked to my mini rant in a post. Hope you like what you see here!

  • Ugh. What starts off as an excellent premise with a decent preview turns into drivel quick smart.

Unfortunatly this movie does not live up to the hype or humor that the preview portreys. I’m going to be cynical and suggest that the preview was designed to enable women to be able to talk their guys into going and seeing this under the guise of it being a funny movie. I have one message for the next DJ, umm those guys. DONT DO IT .

Its horrible and I want my $9.50 back as well as those two hours returned to me with interest.

  • (Note: 15 March 2014 – removing links to now defunct albums page) Its always nice to see a company keeping it simple. Which is why I cannot understand WHY Intel is about to do (Note: 15 March 2014 – removing links to now defunct albums page). Their product line is a mess (from a consumers point of view) so they are about to have a squillion little logos to represent everying. 😮
