d’Arenberg “The Laughing Magpie” – Shiraz Viognier – 2004
This is a rather nice combination of the ever delightful Shiraz with the usually rather not my taste white Viognier, it is much darker than you would expect from a Red/White blend in fact as dark as any Cab or Shiraz out there. It has a very pleasant mix of the spice of a Shiraz…

Bullock Road – Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot (2003)
This is a passable blend of Cab Sav and Merlot – not entirely my favorite variety (merlot) combined with one of my stable drinks. I actually enjoyed this drop post airing and it went rather well with my Mushroom & Chizoro Sausage spag bol.

Richmond Grove – Shiraz (2002)
This is definitely past its best, but it was never very good to begin with. Decanted and opened up its drinkable with a meal, but not something that you would want to take to a dinner party.

Grandin – Brut (Methode Traditionnelle) – NV
Coming from France I expected better. Avoid this one and go for the Yellow or Pink at half the price, about the same quality in my not so humble opinion.

Grandin – Methode Traditionnelle – Brut Rose (NV) – Sparkling Rose
This is pleasant enough, but not really good enough to rate it as highly recommended, although it is definatly worth its price as compared to the stuff below this affordable bracket.

d’Arenberg – “The Peppermint Paddock” – Chambourcin – Sparkling Red – (NV)
This is a delightful sparkling Red that explodes on the tounge and leaves a pleasant taste in the mouth. Its fruity, but big and bold like a Red yet not too bold to be enjoyed as a sparkling. Get into it, its good stuff! I am very glad that I got a 1/2 case from…

d’Arenberg – “The Money Spider” Roussanne – 2005
This is a white wine hailing from the McLaren Vale – it is neither too dry, or too sweet but a nicely balanced white that goes well with food. I enjoyed this one in and with a Beef Stroganoff and it was pleasant. Not knowing enough about whites or my tastes in them, this “review”…

Hugh Hamilton – “The Odd Ball” Saperavi – 2005
This Red is beyond a red in colour, it is almost black in the glass with flourescent purple minicus where the wine meets the glass. And its flavour – not like anything you’ve had before. It has the body of a Cab, the fruit of fruit and the spice of a Shiraz, but tastes nothing…

Seppelt – Fleur de Lys (2002) (Chardonnay Pinot Noir)
This method de champagne is actually rather tasty, exploding on the pallate with an immense infusion of bubble trailing off to a bitey almost astringent aftertaste. The flavours of pinot and chardonnay blending nicely together. It is a rather refreshing summer drink. MUST BE SERVED COLD! It is neither sweet, fruity or bitter, nor is…

Glaetzer Shiraz (1999)
A wine with a web page :D. I was in the mood for a Shiraz tonight, after rummaging in the wine cupboard and discarding several? Cab Sav’s I came across this botttle. Very simple bottle and for a few moments I thought I had grabbed a Wolf Blass Grey Label, I was wrong 😀 I…
